FAR TRAINING – UPDATE RE ONLINE TRAINING
FAR Training – Online Theory Course
We are aware that some FAR training companies are emailing services with offers for an online theory course, with the practical to follow at a later date and we are being asked if services can or should do these courses. As you know the regulatory requirement to have a FAR trained staff member on site is set by Tusla. Tusla gave all childcare services until 1 June 2020 to meet this regulation, by which time it would become part of the inspection process. The Tusla deadline has not changed as yet, therefore the subsidy eligibility for services is still due to end on 1 June 2020. We are working with the DCYA and Tusla on this issue and are due to have a meeting on Monday. Until such time as a change to the regulation implementation timeline has been made, we cannot make subsidy payments to services who have only undertaken the on-line theory part of the FAR training. If you completed a training course before the current emergency measures and have your full FAR certificate, the subsidy will be paid in the usual way.
