Preparing for reopening
As we work our way through the varying levels of restrictions due to Covid-19, thoughts begin to turn to what will happen when services reopen. We know some of you have already been contacted by parents, anxious about September and whether their child will still be able to attend, what restrictions might be in place, what precautions you will be taking and so on.
All decisions regarding the reopening of preschools are made by the Government based on the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET). The team will also be advising Government on how services can maintain good public health practices when they are allowed to reopen. Currently we don’t know what a reopened service will look like or what restrictions you might still be operating under. All you can do is to reassure parents that you have a place for them, and that any changes to your service provision will be communicated as early as possible following decisions from NPHET.
Parent and Toddler group Grant Initiative 2020 update
Roscommon CCC have received the following notification regarding the Parent and Toddler group Grant initiative 2020.
‘In the context of the COVID-19 restrictions it is understood that P&T groups will not be currently meeting. While P&T groups are likely to recommence at some point in 2020 (pending the lifting of restrictions), CCCs should only make a payment to a P&T approved group when they can verify that the group is actually active. In effect, that means that CCCs will not be making P&T payments at this time, payments can proceed when P&T groups are active again’.
Therefore, Roscommon County Childcare Committee will be in contact with parent and toddler groups that applied for the grant to ensure they are active when restrictions are lifted.
